Kips Bay residents now have one more housing option available thanks to the new American Copper Building. This 41-story and 48-story development boasts 761 apartments and overlooks the East River.

Kips Bay, known for their surprisingly residential atmosphere and wall-friendly spots. Both pet-friendly and people-friendly, Kips Bay is just north of the East Village and now thanks to the new American Copper Building, will become a hotspot for young professionals and those seeking luxury within a quiet neighborhood.

The building was first announced in 2013 when JDS Development’s Michael Stern purchased the lot from Sheldon Solow. SHoP Architects designed the towers while JDS co-developed the building with Largo.

It’s called the American Copper Building thanks to the building’s façade material.

The American Copper Building is nothing short of luxurious. Apartments are adorned with oak flooring, marble countertops and backsplashes, as well as custom light fixtures.

They also feature Miele appliances, Bosch waters and dryers in each unit, and antique brass detailing in bathrooms. Perhaps one of the best features is the floor-to-ceiling windows and ceiling heights of nearly 10’.

But what sets the American Cooper Building apart from the others, is their extensive range of amenities – many of which are not even found in New York City’s swankiest condo buildings.

By far one of the most unique amenities is their three-story skybridge that connects the two towers. It’s housed on floors 27-29 and includes a 75-foot indoor lap pool, Whirlpool hot tub, and a residents-only bar and lounge.

And for the fitness buffs, there is a double-height fitness center right off the skybridge courtesy of La Palestra. The fitness center offers breathtaking views of the city, a yoga studio, spa with treatment rooms, juice bar, marble hammam with a plunge pool, children’s playroom and a rock climbing wall.

Although pre-official launch prices weren’t confirmed, the units started around $2,975 per month in February.

Today, though, studios start at $3,200 per month, $4,500 per month for a one-bedroom, and $6,650 per month for two-bedrooms. The building also houses three-bedroom apartments – some of them are even penthouses.
